Assistant Headmaster
Job Description
An Assistant Headmaster at a K-12 Christian School serves as a key leadership role, supporting the Headmaster in the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring the implementation of the Christian mission and values across all grade levels, overseeing academic programs, student discipline, faculty development, and fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, all while upholding the school’s religious principles and educational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Head of School to develop and implement a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with Christian values.
- Monitor student academic progress, identify areas for improvement, and oversee interventions as needed.
- Lead faculty professional development initiatives focused on instructional best practices and integration of Christian teachings.
- Conduct classroom observations to ensure quality teaching and adherence to curriculum standards.
Student Life and Discipline:
- Foster a positive and supportive school culture that reflects Christian values.
- Implement and enforce student discipline policies in alignment with school guidelines and Biblical principles.
- Collaborate with counselors and teachers to address student behavioral concerns.
- Oversee student leadership programs and extracurricular activities.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Assist with faculty recruitment, hiring, and evaluations.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and support to teachers, promoting professional growth.
- Assist in facilitating staff development opportunities focused on Christian education and pedagogy.
Parent and Community Relations:
- Maintain open communication with parents through regular updates, conferences, and events.
- Address parent concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the Head of School to build strong relationships with the wider Christian community.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist in managing school budget, resource allocation, and compliance with regulations.
- Participate in school-wide planning and decision-making processes.
- Represent the school at community events and conferences.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director in function and supervision of the athletic program.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Seek to role model in attitude, speech, and action a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Assists the Head of School in the overall administration of the school and assumes leadership of the school in the absence of Head of School.
- Conducts high quality classroom observations, identifies effective teaching practices, and understands pedagogy that results in improved student learning.
- Assist Head of School in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
- Helps plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Beginning Teacher Program
- Assists in the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment, and materials.
